Ryan also applied to become a police officer but could not due to a hiring freeze. Overall, his military journey was a mix of deployments, training, and transitioning to civilian life. Ryan finishes his tests to become a police officer but faces a hiring freeze. He decides to join the reserves and gets deployed to Iraq. He forms close relationships with the Iraqi military police and gains valuable experience. After leaving the military, Ryan works as a security officer but misses the military and joins a private security company. He undergoes training and is deployed to Afghanistan. He describes the challenges and experiences during his deployment, including an attack on Leatherneck. Ryan decides not to renew his contract and returns home. Ryan shares his experience transitioning from military to civilian life and finding a career in construction. He discusses his challenges during the transition and the importance of understanding that change is normal.
